Step 3: Crack Jokes

Practise whenever you can and you will certainly feel when you're great at it or when you totally fail. Don't worry in case they start calling you a crack for some of jokes of yours (the failed ones that is), just get back to our 'childish' advice for a moment and you'll figure out how to treat your failures with sense of humour.
It's natural that one cannot crack brilliant jokes non-stop, but you'd certainly love to do it much more often. In this case, keep your eyes wide open and start absorbing our further recommendations.
Witty people are very good at thinking associatively. That is why they come up with funny comparisons or hilarious puns very quickly and easily – on the spur of the moment. Associative thinking is mostly a prerogative of creative people but even if you're say an avid mathematician or software developer and your artistic creativity leaves much to be desired, the key word is still 'practice' which invariably leads you to close-to-perfection areas.
Practising isn't hard at all. For a start, catch any object with your observant eye. Let it be the awkwardest funniest most tasteless tie ever – the tie of your boss (it's already funny but so far to you only). Look at the tie, pay attention to its form, the way it's tied, its colour and images on it. Such a nutritious food for your associative thought, why not start devouring at once! Now just take a piece of paper and put down all your associations evoked by this sweet piece of rag hanging down your boss's neck. For example, 'overused handkerchief', 'junk food falling from someone's mouth hahaaaa' or, perhaps, 'polka-dot purple haze' etc. The list can be endlessly long. But it's better that you practice without thinking the issue over for too long because wit is also an ability to pick a juicy association immediately, not after breaking your head over it.
After that reread all the words and expressions you've written down and cross out the ones that seem too trivial or boring to you. Now try and – basing on these associations – shout out loud something funny about your boss (just kidding – do it to yourself in case you're not masochistic). We are positive that in the long run you will come up with something hilarious. However, try not to share your precious thoughts with the colleagues, their highly prejudiced attitude will certainly prevent them from laughing out loud anyway. And if you really want to be heard and appreciated – joke at home first, it may be even more interesting, you'll figure out if your family have sense of humour or not when you mercilessly mock at your wife's mewing voice (your husband's habit to passionately scratch his bottom from time to time), your mother's childish behaviour and your sister's yawning which causes earthquakes in China.
As you can see, cracking quality jokes isn't an easy thing to do even for a person who is willing to learn. You will have to work hard if you want to master this skill. It really is worth it for it will not only improve your thoughts about yourself but will also – naturally – attract a lot of people to you. Being a heart and soul of a party is a very noble title. Some people don't have to develop it as thoroughly as others, just as well as we all aren't born with millions in our pockets – it's all natural.
